“I Felt at Home”

Doubletree Guest Suites Atlanta-Galleria

5 of 5 stars
Little Falls, NJ
Apr 20, 2008

It's unusual for me to feel as comfortable while away as I do at home, but this place pulled it off. Rooms are large, comfortable and very nicely appointed (careful, a few rooms aren't suites and a number of rooms face the atrium instead of outside the hotel). Bathroom is nicely sized and sower is good. Mattress is very comfortable. Fitness center is very small but you can get a decent workout. Staff was top notch. Location is convenient.

The jacuzzi tubs can be a plus for some but were a drawback for me -- every night I heard the plumbing while my neighbor filled his tub (during a drought no less!). Closing your bathroom door will silence the plumbing. Other than that small detraction, this place really worked for me.

“Good matresses, but many non-functional amenities”

Doubletree Guest Suites Atlanta-Galleria

Apr 11, 2008

I stayed here for a business trip so got the corporate discount. The two room suite was $104 instead of the normal $169. Internet wireless is $10/day but my discount included free internet. The suite was large and I found the location to be convenient with great nearby restaurants. The room service was good and the food served at the hotel was also good. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The bed was very comfortable with down pillows and comforter. But that is where the good ends.

There were no doormen (doorpersons) to assist with unloading and loading baggage. The business center was meager with 2 computers with security policies that did not allow direct access to one's flash drive - documents had to be opened with an application. The printer was running out of toner and the print quality was terrible and faded.

There were a number of problems with my room. For one thing the large whirlpool bathtub had not be cleaned and had very nasty, crusty rings around it. Of course I notified them and they came to clean it. But it turned out the whirlpool did not even work.

Another problem was that I could hear the droning of the whirlpools in other rooms all day and all night long. When turning on the TV to drown out the persistent noise, I found it cost $11.95 to watch a movie and 5 bucks to watch a rerun TV show. There was no free TV at all - not even news or weather.

The clock next to the bed was set for an hour ahead and there were no dials or buttons to adjust the time. Aside from the bed, the furniture was old and uncomfortable.

The refirgerator in the kitchenette hadn't been defrosted in years - the freezer section was all iced up with no room for ice cubes or anything at all. There was no way to adjust it and the food section froze everything - such as the cream I brought for my coffee. They say they have coffee pots in the room but they are those one-cuppers with paper cups, and the pre-packaged coffee they provide tastes like sawdust. There is no way to use any other type of coffee except the pre-packaged stuff provided.

They are shy of paper products - no paper towels (or any towels) in the kitchenette, no extra bathroom paper, no Q-tips. Bathroom amenities consisted of Neutrogena shampoo, rinse, creams - which was nice - but that was it. They did provide small drinking glasses.

The interior halls need a makeover - carpeting was very old and nasty.

My stay was during April of 2008.

Also, I learned from the front desk staff that if you make your reservation via telephone, you CAN cancel it, but if you use the Internet you cannot.

“Excellent Stay for a great value!”

Doubletree Guest Suites Atlanta-Galleria

5 of 5 stars
Atlanta, Ga
Apr 9, 2008

My husband and I stayed at the the doubletree guest suites atlanta-galleria hotel in March 2008. Our stay was excellent. We have been here before and have alway enjoyed it. They have remodeled since the last time we stayed which was a few years ago and it looks great. Modern and up to date. We booked ours directly throught their website and got their 2person jaccuzi tube suite with balcony. The check in went great. We received the room we booked and were offered their awesome warm cookies.
The hotel was farily quite that night which was perfect and it was a Saturday night. We did not have any noise issues. Their room was very clean and they had great amenties in the rooms. They have mini coffee/tea pot that makes Wolfgang puck coffee and tea which was perfect b/c my husband like coffee and I'm a tea drinker. The 2 person jaccuzi was one of the best parts. The bed wwas really comfortable with a heavy down(I think) comforter and lots of pillows. They had a radio that you could insert your m3 to so you could listen to your own music but we forgot to bring ours. Not may tv channel selections though. Check out was a breeze. It was express which means if u accept what they put underdoor in morning you don't have to check out at the desk...you can just leave and they will charge it to your card unless you want to pay cash. Our stay was excellent and great value for the price we paid. Location good to...next ot Cobb Galleria and 15mins for downtown. Would recommend!

“Disappointed in Doubletree”

Doubletree Guest Suites Atlanta-Galleria

3 of 5 stars

Mar 17, 2008

I am a business traveler and stay 80 nights per year in hotels. I am a Gold HIlton member, which is the parent of this hotel.
The location is VERY convenient and the rooms were updated, tasteful and clean. I asked to be away from any noise and was place on the top floor ( good) at the end by the road ( bad). I came back downstairs and asked to switch, so I was moved to the other side: right by a different road. I just took the room and heard trafiic all night...no sleep for me. When you are on the top floor you should NOT hear road noise unless the construction is not good. I tried to sleep in the bathtub ( yes I have done this at other hotels) but the pipes were creaking too loudly. I do wear 32 decibel earplugs every night. In the morning, I receive my bill and it was $75 more than the rate I booked, online with my Hilton account. I called the front desk and they too were puzzled because when they looked up my confirmation number they showed the higher rate. I had to bring my paperwork down to straighten things out...which they did BUT if you were not paying attention or misplaced your paperwork...this could be a problem. The breakfast was delicious. I would not stay here again and it is too bad since the location is ideal for the Galleria. I have stayed at the Embassy Suites ( near the Galleria too) before and loved it but they were booked up.

“Fabulous!!!”

This hotel is great!!! I found this hotel by looking for places to stay in atlanta on the web. I knew doubletree hotels were good but I did not expect it to be that awesome. We arrived late at night but the front desk was upbeat and ready to help. He even called the room to let me know I left my card downstairs when checking in to our room. There was a full hot buffet downstairs, laudry services, a snack store and they even had room service. No matter what we wanted they helped and with no questions asked!! I would stay here again anytime!!!
