We didn't experience anything apart from one minor confusion in the dining room. The Staff were pleasant at all times. I would not recommend the half board option unless you have a big appetite and always eat 4 courses. The a la carte menu is reasonably priced as are the wines. Fresh orange juice was always offered at breakfast.
There are some restaurants nearby, but at least 10 minutes drive.
There are 2 computers with internet access for guests.
Fortunately, the usual plague of sunbed bagging with towels was only seen occasionally. The hotel supplies guests with towels for the pool. Some people left them on the sun beds after use which confused other users, but never a shortage of beds, although the hotel was full.
We had a castle room. The bed was a bit firm. There was a wide screen TV, mini bar and DVD player. The bathroom was open plan with a screen to the bedroom and a bit dark. Not for the prudish. Viewed a garden suite before we left- that's the next choice. Huge room and bathroom, both with views over the valley.
The hotel is 45 minutes drive from Girona airport- 44 km. The N11 road is being renovated and signposts are a bit vague. From the airport, once on the N11 stay on it until the C66, don't take the hotel's instructions too literally- 'follow N11 Girona' and take the N11 off -slip road to Girona. We nearly missed the airport turn-off on the return. No signpost.
The nearby town of La Bisbal has a few bars and a market one morning, but you have you explore to find the shops. The main street if full of ceramic shops, some a bit touristy but look carefully and there are some nicer shops.
High season is pricey- check the website for offers.
There are no tour companies that use the hotel so it doesn't feel frantic at all. There is no evening entertainment- a welcome break from the usual club-singers.
Highly recommended.
