Wailea Beach Villas

We discovered the Wailea Beach Villas (WBV) through LuxuryLink.com but ultimately booked our two bedroom, two bath penthouse directly with the resort.

As a family of five (three teenagers) we typically book two hotel rooms or a suite. After pricing out the cost of two rooms at the Grand Wailea (next door) and the Four Seasons, as well as a suite at the Fairmont, our discounted offer from the reservations agent required serious consideration. Please note the WBV is not inexpensive, but once you pencil out the cost savings of being able to make breakfast and lunch, let alone the prospect of enjoying a 1900 square foot unit, this decision became simple.

The first thing you notice is the lack of crowds. There is no need to race to the pool/beach and secure a spot. It is peaceful and reflects the tone of Wailea--understated elegance, tranquil Hawaii, beautiful facilities.

The pools: While the family pool does not boast of waterslides, it does provide a great option to the beach for families, especially with young children who want a pool with a shallow spot. The adult pool is nothing but tranquility. There were rarely over five people at the pool and it overlooks the beach. Simply beautiful.

Beach: In the morning it is peaceful and great for snorkeling; the afternoon the wind picks up and provides some fun waves for bodysurfing. The pool/beach attendants have a can-do attitude. They set up our chairs, umbrellas and towels everyday. They graciously provided boogie boards and sand toys upon request.

Our unit: We had the smallest in the facility and it was amazing. The panoramic view (we had fifth floor unit) is worth a million bucks. The kitchen has everything you would ever need. We enjoyed breakfast each day in the unit and made lunch that we took to the beach. No $50-$100 breakfast/lunches for us. Each room was oversized. The balcony with table and chairs provided a great spot to enjoy our morning coffee or a card game with the kids. The washer/dryer was a hit. I could have packed half the clothes with a light load of laundry a day.

We ate four of our meals within an easy 10 minute walk; three phenomenal meals at the Four Seasons and a memorable meal across the way at Tommy Bahamas. We barely used our rental car.

The front desk and Tracy's concierge staff were fantastic.

Bottom line: do not pass up the Wailea Beach Villas.

“WOW! The most amazing place to stay!”

Wailea Beach Villas

We rented two different units at the Wailea Beach Villas both on the first floor of the penthouse building. The complex is the best place we've ever stayed, bar none. You get all the services of a top notch hotel with all of the conveniences of a condo- the best of both worlds! The concierge staff was great, the shops at Wailea were closer than most hotel resstaurants would be, etc. My mom has difficulty walking far, so the the staff even drove my mom down to the pool and beach in their golf carts. Everyone working at WBV was friendlier than anywhere else we went on Maui.

These condos are amazing! There are 2 sub zero refrigerators in the kitchen, full laundry, and each owner has decorated with wonderful furnishings. Each lanai has it's own Viking gas grill. We sat out on the lanai and watched the stars every night. We even got to watch the fireworks from the Marriott next door.

Some owners bought a membership that gives them access to the Grand Wailea pools- very beneficial if you have kids. They loved being able to go over there for all of the water park stuff, then come back to the WBV for more quiet time.

We were lucky enought to stay in a 3 bedroom unit on a corner (M112) for part of our stay, so the lanai was over twice the size of most. It also had an extra patio space with foosball and a ping pong table- the kids thought they were in heaven!

WBV are expensive, but since we were going to need 2 rooms at the Grand Wailea, the overall cost ended up being lesss since we didn't have to eat out for every meal. We rented both units thru VRBO, and would do so again.

I think my mom would have moved in if she could have. We'll can't wait to go back!

“This place exceeded expectations in a big way”

My family and I stayed here for 3 days in Mid May and it absolutely exceeded our expectations. We had two small kids, me and my wife, and my inlaws in a 2bedroom ocean view in the penthouse section of the property.

Here are a few reasons that this place blew us away:
1 - When we arrived to the gated community and drove up to the main lobby area, we were greeted by the concierge, a woman with iced tea and cold wet towels, and we were all promptly lei'd. I must admit I really wasnt expecting any of this but it was a nice touch
2 - All of our bags and groceries were taken to the room which was nothing short of perfect for our party. Great 2 bedroom, well laid out in terms of space and amenities.
3- ocean view was outrageous - looking over Molokini - truly awesome.
4 - Kitchen - every kitchen utensil you would ever want was right at your fingertips.
5 - Lanai (deck) - awesome view plus had a fancy stainless steel grill.
6- Location - right next door is the Grand Wailea, 4 Seasons, fairmont, and literally adjacent to the property was the Shops at Wailea - restaurants and high end shopping.
7- Brand New - Built within the past year so everything was gorgeous

This place is pricey - but well worth it in my estimation. When we go back to Maui - we will stay nowhere else but this place. Email me if you want additional info

“Great Vacation! Great Resort! Great Condo!”

Wailea Beach Villas

Apr 19, 2007
19/20 found this review helpful

We had a great stay at Wailea Beach Villas over the holidays. The bellman met us with a lei greeting; escorted us to the condo and gave us a thorough explanation of TVs, surround-sound, stove, A/C, phones, WiFi connection, lighted ceiling fans, solar shade, etc.

The location couldn't be better - right on Wailea Beach, and a very short walking distance from the Shops at Wailea. We stopped at Safeway in Kihei as we made our way to Wailea from the airport - any supplies that we had forgotten to buy at Safeway we picked up at either the ABC Store or Whalers General Store both located in the Shops at Wailea.

The Wailea Beach Villas condo was way above our expectations from the ocean view, the decor, the amenities & the unit was stocked with essentials plus books, games, movies, large cooler & blue ice. Our unit was a 3 bedroom with 3 bathrooms on the second floor of the main penthouse building.

We snorkeled almost daily directly off of the beach - the snorkeling was terrific with clear water, abundant tropical fish, coral reefs and turtles. Our only snorkeling disappointment was that we didn't hear any whales "talking" while under water. Our children also took surfing lesson at Kamaole Beach in Kihei just north of the Villas. The concierge arranged the lessons with the surfing company. I posted a short video of one of their lessons which can be seen in my profile on TripAdvisor.

Once at the Villas, there is no need to go elsewhere for anything (unless you want to) - we love snorkeling; spending time at the beach; great dinners and lovely sunsets - all available in South Maui on Wailea Beach. Love the Villas! Love Maui!

“Great for our family!”

Wailea Beach Villas

Apr 12, 2007

My husband, 3 children and I stayed at Wailea Beach Villas from Feb.16 until Feb.23. We were in Maui for a wedding. We had a three bedroom condo in the penthouse buidling called Alohakai Suite number J205. The unit was very nice because it was brand new, clean and the maids came in daily to bring towels, change the sheets, staighten the kitchen. We spent most mornings hanging around the condo, so it was important that the condo unit be large. We had a great view of the ocean and saw many whales just sitting on our outdoor lanai. The location of this resort couldn't have been better, right on Wailea Beach which is a great beach for swimming & snorkeling and especially nice for our kids because the waves weren't real large. It is also within easy walking distance of restaurants and shops. We went to lunch at Longhis and Tommy Bahamas in the shopping center right next door. Both of the restaurants were very good for lunch, but we like the atomosphere at Tommy Bahamas better. Another nice restaurant we walked to for dinner is Matteos which served pizza, pasta and salad. We really enjoyed our stay in Maui and will definitely try to stay in the same resort and same condo unit again.

Also, make sure you drive down to Makena and visit Big Beach cause the sand is so beautiful and the water is very clear. If you like snorkeling, go a little further past Makena to Ahihi Cove. There is only parking on the street, so there is a short hike to the cove once you park. There is really not a beach to the cove and the entry is rocky (but easy) and the snorkeling is the best you'll see. The cove is a protected reserve. It felt like were were swimming in the middle of an aquarium!
