To say this place is a dump is to be kind. The lobby door came off the hinges when we walked in - the room was filthy - there was a hole next to the fridge that looked like it had been made by rats. The balcony was gross - old food and cigarette butts in the corner, carpeting that looked like it had been there for 20 years and never touched. Sheets were disgusting. Lingerie was missing after the maid had been in - when I complained at the front desk they said they would keep an eye out for it.

If you have a choice between staying here and sleeping in your rental car, you would be better off choosing the car. Whoever runs this hotel should be ashamed.

The hotel is disgusting - it is filthy. My trash cans at home are cleaner than the rooms in this hotel. Best Western should be ashamed to have its name associated with this hotel.

I know this hotel is inexpensive so I can live with some disrepair - but there is no excuse for such filth.

You would be better off sleeping under a bridge than staying at this place.

If you don't mind a remote location on a busy road and staying in a hotel that is in real need of renovation, Best Western Inn of Santa Fe is for you.

Check-in/front desk personnel: helpful, courteous, and friendly

Room: Sub-par. Lumpy bed, awful pillows, dirty carpet, out-of-date bathroom, loud AC

Location: A bit scarey

Breakfast: Think stale danish from a wholesale club, watered down coffee, Fruit Loops cereal

Price: Reasonable ($65 for a double)

Would I stay here again? Only if nothing else were available.

Four college guys and I recently visited Santa Fe, staying only one night. We were on a very limited budget, so the entire trip consisted only of $75 and under Best Westerns, with a AAA discount.

With that in mind, the quality of this motel was no surprise: the room was small, but big enough for the "four" of us (it would be unfair to consider the fifth sleeping on the floor, for whom the motel certainly would have accommodated a larger room or cot had we been willing to pay for it).

The AC, however, did not do much, and we were very hot in the mid-June Santa Fe weather.

Although had requested (and supposedly received) a non-smoking room, the smell of cigarette smoke was very prevalent for the duration of our stay. The room did have a non-smoking sign on the door, so this is clearly the fault of a neglectful tenant. However, it's hard to imagine a thorough cleaning had been done.

The indoor pool and spa were a nice touch, though they were hardly luxurious.

The continental breakfast consisted only of sweets, which I had no problem with, but I'm sure many tenants did.

The service was friendly, but sparse.

Overall, it wasn't a bad stay given the price, but a few things could have been better.
