“Great hotel!”

Hampton Inn & Suites Buffalo Downtown

4 of 5 stars
Toronto
Mar 29, 2008

Our family of 4 stayed here for a Montreal Buffalo hockey game.
Quick check in, free parking. We were running late, but there is free transit to the arena after walking 3 short blocks. Sometimes I get a little worried walking downtown at night, but there was lots of people along Chippewa, so I didn't feel bad at all.
We had a queen suite, so my boys (teens) had to take the pull out sofa. That was the only problem as it was pretty bad. One ended up sleeping on all the pillows on the floor, but at that age for one night they don't mind.
The room was very clean, the queen bed was luxurious. Lots of everything. Free tea and coffee in the lobby, was very welcome after the cold walk back from the game. Free popcorn, we ate one and they gave us another!
One bathroom in the bedroom, so it was a bit of a hassle with 4 of us. But you make do.
The breakfast was a little lean on quality, but we could all go when we wanted. The eggs were pretty bad.
The fitness centre was good, I got in a workout before leaving. The pool was also used. Quite nice with a whirlpool that was very relaxing.
The staff were very courteous, I would definitely recommend this hotel if staying in Buffalo.

“Fantastic Place to stay”

Hampton Inn & Suites Buffalo Downtown

Mar 25, 2008

We travelled to Buffalo to see the Toronto Maple Leafs play the Buffalo Sabres and tried to find a hotel relatively close to the arena. Though this hotel was not the closest it definitely was worth the extra distance. The room was massive and the jacuzzi was HUGE! It was very quiet and we were not disturbed once due to noise or our neighbours. The front desk was very helpful and called a cab for us and helped to find a great place for dinner. The business room which features 2 computers with internet access was also a great help in finding our way around the city. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

“This isn’t your father’s Hampton Inn”

Hampton Inn & Suites Buffalo Downtown

5 of 5 stars
Camden, Maine
Mar 10, 2008

My experience with Hampton Inn Hotels has not been the best. Usually they’re located off a major highway exit. 2 stories. Lobby smells like chlorine. Staff are college students trying to pay for tuition.

The Buffalo Hampton is a full fledged hotel set in a rather pleasant restaurant/shopping district downtown. The lobby is very comfortable and quite. Amble space to conduct a brief business meeting. The rooms are—and I’m not kidding when I say this—plush. They are easily on par with major hotel chains and a big step above other Hampton Inns.

Amenities were strong. Free internet access. Cookies and coffee in the lobby. Free parking. There was also a very large pool on the main floor.

The staff were pleasant and helpful. The early morning pre-airport routine of 1) wake up call and 2) cab in the lobby went off without a hitch.

All of this for less than $125 per night.

“Wow! What a great place!”

Hampton Inn & Suites Buffalo Downtown

4 of 5 stars
Youngstown, Ohio

This hotel is very easy to get to-right off a main road in Buffalo- no fees to park and what is best lies inside.

Upon arrival- there is a nice fire burning, a very attractive lobby and friendly attendants at the desk. Also, in the main area of this hotel there are 4 restaurants connected to the hotel... This is essential when dealing with Buffalo in the winter- not going outside.

I stayed in their standard room, which appears to be larger than most of my friend's apartments in NYC. The room contained a living room/kitchen area, high ceilings with a couch and chair.

The bedroom had the standard, comfortable Hampton bed, with the one needed non-down pillow, closet and incredibly large bathroom.

I can honestly say I was blown away in the best regards- the cost spoke Hampton, but the hotel resembled a Hilton. The only reason why it does not have all possible "Excellent" ratings falls onto the terrible internet connection and the common Oatmeal, fake round egg breakfast (I think they use them as pucks up there).

Also, people are so incredibly nice- someone actually brushed the 4 inches of snow off of my car for me in the morning!

Happy travels when you're here!

“Nice Property, some slight problems”

Hampton Inn & Suites Buffalo Downtown

4 of 5 stars
Montreal
Nov 21, 2007

Stayed here on a Friday night as we were attending a Montreal-Buffalo hockey game that night. The fact that the hotel was within walking distance of the arena and that the hotel was close to some nightlife were the two main factors in our decision, plus I am very loyal to the Hampton Inn brand. This was my first trip to Buffalo.

The property itself is very nice - grounds are neat and well-kept. Nice lobby area, and the pool area was very big and bright. Check-in was fine. They weren't able to accomodate my request for a room on the quiet side away from Chippewa St, but they put me as far down the street as possible. Noise did not end up being an issue for us, in fact we just put the fan on and didn't hear anything.

Room was very large, especially for a downtown hotel (although downtown Buffalo isn't exactly "prime real estate"). It had a bit of a lofty feel in the sense that the ceilings were high and the windows very big. The hotel is an older building recently converted and they seem to have done a great job. Older TV but it worked well and lots of channels. No prob with the free internet, nice desk and great desk chair. Good lighting, two comfortable arm chairs in the room. Bathroom was basic but a good size. There was a bit of red mold in the corners of the tub but nothing horrible. Excellent water pressure in the shower!

The main complaint I have is that when I pulled down the covers to go to bed (at 1AM) I noticed that there were an awful lot of hairs on the sheets. If I see 1-2 I figure it's no big deal, but here there were a lot more than that (long ones). I called the front desk and someone was up within 5 mins with a new set of sheets and she re-made the bed for me. She mentioned that they must have a housekeeper with stray hairs because they have had a few complaints. I'm not sure if that was actually the problem, but maybe it was. Anyway, they dealt with the situation well, but it shouldn't have happened. The other double bed in the room was fine.

As far as Buffalo goes, this is a pretty good location - but we were pretty disappointed with the downtown core - really not much happening there. But this is not the hotel's problem. I would go out and say with confidence that this is your best hotel option for downtown Buffalo. We even saw the broadcast crew for the Montreal Canadiens in the lobby so looks like members of the organization use this hotel too.

I'd recommend, just check your bed before you get in to be sure :)
