“If you're a college student, maybe...”

I stay in Buffalo a lot for business, normally at the Hyatt Downtown. I will not stay at the Comfort Inn again for a number of reasons. Very loud location, especially on a night when the local bars are hopping. Lot of trucks, etc. Room is very worn and has seen better days. Bed was terrible; one side was all beat down. Basically sat on the floor. Water shut off in the middle of the shower. Not as clean as I like to see it. But primarily I won't stay here again because I have a problem staying at a hotel that requires me to use my key to enter the main entrance after 10pm. And the two girls behind the front desk when I checked in were wearing sweatshirts and jeans. Is this how the hotel wants to project itself to business travelers? On the plus side, the room was big with a separate bedroom. Two televisions. Big bathroom. Fridge & microwave. Good location to bars, HSBC Arena, Bison Stadium. TGIFriday's inside. Better for young people & college students.

“PLEASE renovate this hotel!!”

I have stayed at this hotel on and off for more than 10 years. It used to be a Radisson, then became a Clarion, and is now a Comfort Suites. They have done absolutely NO work on the hotel in all those years. The rooms are worn and run down. My non-smoking room had a smoky/musty smell. The only reason I stayed there was because of its close location to my business meeting (and the Hyatt was sold out). My co-worker's toilet ran constantly and housekeeping failed to make her bed. When she called to complain, she was told that housekeeping had left for the day.

There were a couple of positives (other than its location). There's a nice free breakfast. They have make-your-own waffles, juices, breads, yogurt, cereals, oatmeal, etc. They also have free wifi in all rooms.

For the most the stay was good. The staff was great and the room was nice. The refrig needed deforsted and the bedroom TV picture tube was going out... Better than going home in a blizzard to Ohio....

Would stay again.

“Seriously, reconsider staying here --- from a gal that never minds cheap hotels!”

Comfort Suites Downtown Buffalo

1 of 5 stars
Albany, NY
Mar 6, 2008

Seriously - reconsider staying here. I'm a gal that never really complains about hotels. I figure, hey, they're a place to sleep - and as long as it's clean and adequate, I'm okay, especially for a $60 priceline price. But this hotel is another story. First of all, no courtesy pickup, and when I called the front desk to ask about a taxi, they gave me the number to a gentleman who owns one cab and was thirty minutes away, minimum (did I mention it was freezing rain and I was standing outside at Amtrak?). I got to the hotel only to find out that their high-speed wireless internet isn't working. Sigh. The elevator was completely antiquated, though not telling. I got into the room, which seemed okay except for being incredibly outdated and worn. The couch was unbearable, you nearly sink to the floor. And the room is the same size as a regular hotel room, other than the "french doors" this isn't a suite. The remotes for the television didn't work except to turn the tv on and off, and you could only get some channels on one tv and some on the other. No sleep mode and no pay-per-view. The heat didn't work, it was pretty freezing the entire time, and they don't give you much in the way of blankets. Step into the bathroom - hair in the shower, the tub hadn't been actually scrubed (or "C L R-ed") in a loong, loooong, looooooong time. I went to sleep on the box, and woke up to a cold water shower (no hot water, anytime of the day), and the maid coming in to drop off towels at 7:45am. Did I mention that she never came back? No room cleaning, not once. Good thing I put my towel on the rack... So, no internet, for days and days that I had to stay here. (How hard is internet to fix???) and no room service. TGIFriday's is in the building, which was nice during the ice storm, but other than that, this hotel is one of the worst that I have ever stayed in - and I'm an avid traveler.

“Very nice stay”

Comfort Suites Downtown Buffalo

Sep 24, 2007

We stayed here for two nights when we were going to a concert at the Arena and i was a bit worried after reading the various negative comments on this board!

But we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel has a curtesy pick up which was there when it said it would be and is no more than 10/15 mins from airport.

The reception staff were extremely helpful and the coffee and donuts in reception were a nice welcome.

Our room was large and yes it was in need of updating but it was clean which to me is more important than a chic look. The breakfast in the morning was very good and making our own pancake/waffles was fun! Location is very good if you are attending a concert or game at Arena as only 15 min walk.
