“An Experience to Remember”

My husband and I have just returned from our two-week vacation in Greece where we went to celebrate both of our birthdays, anniversary and upcoming birth of our first child. We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite at the Anastasis Apartments for four nights, and I will always remember our visit as being one of the most special and wonderful experiences of my life.
I booked the Anastasis Apartments based on the glowing reviews I had read over and over on Trip Advisor. Once we landed in Thira, however, and were on our way to the property, I started thinking that it would not live up to the great expectations I had imagined. I could not have been more wrong! Anastasis Apartments is everything the reviews have already mentioned - breathtakingly gorgeous, incredibly pristine, but more than that, it is the staff who make this place so incredible. Despina, the owner, is truly proud of her property, and her love for what she does shines through. She and her assistant, Katerina, gave us detailed information about the amenities available and things to do on the island upon our arrival, and were always available with suggestions and assistance throughout our stay. Katerina was new to the job, and she was unbelieving kind and enthusiastic. Despina is an amazing woman who is organized beyond belief and has obviously built a very successful business in a short time due to her attention to detail and supreme interest in making sure that her guests enjoy themselves to the fullest. The staff, including Viktor, who takes care of the property and makes sure that everything is immaculate, and the housekeepers who cleaned our room more thoroughly than I have ever seen in any place I have ever stayed, do their jobs so quietly and efficiently, while always seeing that our every need was met.
We experienced such amazing personal service during our visit to the Anastasis Apartments. The day we arrived, Despina offered to have her husband drive us to get some groceries, as well as take us to dinner since we had not rented a car - such thoughtful gestures that were much appreciated. Her husband, Vagelis (I am not sure of the exact spelling or if that is even close to his actual name, so I apologize) and son, Anastasis, were so wonderful and kind, too - making sure that we were always well taken care of. Despina offered my husband some of their house wine to sample, as well as Greek coffee on a day that we got up early. The final amazing gesture was that Vagelis personally called us with a wake-up call at 4:45AM on the day we left, because they did not want us to have to rely on an alarm clock alone. I am probably forgetting many other special touches, but the service we received at the Anastasis Apartments was probably the best I have ever encountered, and meant so much.
If you are looking for a quiet stay in a truly spectacular property in one of the most beautiful places to visit in Greece, I encourage you to book a room at the Anastasis Apartments. It is an experience you will remember for the rest of your life.....

We stayed here for 5 nights for our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. We stayed in least expensive room w/ large bed and own kitchenette. Upon arrival we were given a very thorough introduction by staff and they were very helpful with all questions re: taxis, cars, restaurants. Rooms very clean, with own little balcony. Pool was too cold for use during our stay. Make reservations for jacuzzi immediately for the sunset! Even for 5 days we never could use it for the sunset b/c only 1 couple can use it at a time, it is private, and this was frustrating. Order 1 breakfast for 2 people, there is a lot of food and it is not cheap. Hotel will order rental car for you which is very convenient, and has good recommendations on places to go around the island. Location is not the best if you are a partier but it was nice for honeymooners since it is more private. Do the walk to Fira. The walk to Oia is great but not for everyone. Hotel is quite, calm and romantic so if you are looking for parties, stay closer to Fira. Definitely rent a car for 1 day and go to black sand beach at Kamari. Food at Tasos Tavern up the street from Anastasis was great. Hotel will do laundry (1 load = 7 euros). Only frustrating part was jacuzzi and the reception closes at 8 pm so if you need anything after 8 pm, you are on your own (except for late check ins).

“Beautiful View, Relaxing & Private Location”

We booked our stay at Anastasis based on the reviews we read on Tripadvisor - and it was truly the best hotel we stayed in during our Honeymoon in Greece. The view was SPECTACULAR and the rooms were large, meticulously clean and very comfortable. We did the cliff hike to Ia the first day and it was actually a bit more rugged than we anticipated. But still beautiful and worth it! We also visited Santo Winery at the recommendation of Despina, and it was a relaxing and fun activity with a great view and unique wines. We had the breakfast one morning at the hotel and it was delicious! they set it up in our room and it was such a treat! Despina and her staff are wonderful hosts - full of restaurant recommendations to make the most of your stay. Their help and service was great! Although you're supposed to make reservations for the hot tub, they allowed us to use it right at sunset at the last minute and brought us wine and stuffed grape leaves and olives to enjoy while relaxing in the beautiful environment!
Since we were on our honeymoon, being outside the town was a perfect location - private, relaxing and romantic. However, if you're looking for convenience over romance, I would recommend staying in Fira.

“Outstanding”

I’ve just read that Anastasis Apartments features four times in the Trip Advisor 2008 Awards (#2 in Top 10 Best Hidden Gems – World; #2 in Top 10 Best Hidden Gems – Europe; #4 in Top 10 Best for Romance – World; #1 in Top 10 Best for Romance – Europe). A lot of people quite clearly think a great deal of the place. (And I’m one of them.)
Four of us - two couples - stayed there for five nights in October last year. It was just fabulous. The service was outstanding (genuinely welcoming and friendly and never over-familiar or cloying); the location was wonderful (there were beautiful, uninterrupted views of the caldera and it was a scenic (about 45-minute) clifftop walk to Fira; the apartments were well equipped and all the hotel’s facilities were impeccably maintained. We stayed in two apartments on the ground floor: we had spacious bathrooms (with nice towels which were regularly changed), small but perfectly adequate kitchen areas with all the stuff we needed and more, sitting areas and sleeping areas. There were also small personal ‘garden’ areas outside each of our apartments (each with two chairs and a table) which faced the caldera (the apartments above had balconies). We made full use of the infinity pool (cold in October, but still OK) and the hot tub at sunset. There was a large, comfortable communal lounge which had a small library of books (general reading books as well as books on Santorini), a large flatscreen TV (which nobody seemed interested in watching: over the days we were there it was never on) and a PC with (free) internet access.
We ate in Fira on three of the nights we were there and got taxis back to the apartments (the journeys took about ten minutes: one taxi cost five euros, the other cost seven). We hired a car for the last two full days we were there (with Drossos Car Hire – organised by Despina) and dropped it off at the airport.
Whether the Anastasis Apartments is right for you will obviously depend on what you’re looking for: it’s not right in the centre of things, it’s not right by the beach and I don’t really think it’s suitable for families with young children. However, if you are a couple (or, like us, two couples travelling together) who want an away-from-it all place that’s both beautiful and consummately well-run then I just don’t think it's possible to do better. I warmly and unreservedly recommend it.

I apologize for not writing this review sooner. My wife and I went to Santorini in May 2007 for our Honeymoon, and this was one of the places we stayed. I was a little unsure after reading all of the "wonderful" reviews, but let me assure you, this place is TOP NOTCH for a honeymoon. The pictures speak for themselves, but honestly, you could eat off of the floor it is so clean. The service is wonderful, and Despina was a great host. I would stay here again in a heartbeat, and I would recommend it to any couple on honeymoon, anniversary, or just a holiday. Definitely not a singles or kids place though.
