As soon as we walked in the front door, I told my husband "now this is what I think of when I think French Chateau." We loved this place and would stay again if we venture back to this area of France. It is conveniently located just 20 minutes or so from Mont St. Michel which should be a must see on any tour of France.
This was a beautiful old house that was well kept by the owners (who are descendants of the original owners going back several generations). We were immediately greeted by the owners who spoke French, Spanish and English making communication quite easy. They were very gracious and helpful. I sat on the back steps of the chateau in the afternoon sun and had a great conversation with the Monsieur.
Our room was located on the ground floor (Marquise), right off the dining room. It was very large and well furnished, with a nice view out the back of the property. Our room as well as all of the common rooms had family heirlooms, paintings and antiques everywhere. I think that it is fantastic that they share all of their history and family treasures with guests.
Breakfast was very good with French style fare such as croissants, bread, jam, fruit, etc. We were served on the huge dining room table that was all decked out with fresh cut flowers, china, linen, etc.
