“Magnifique!”

My husband and I chose the Chateau based on TripAdvisor reviews. All of our expectations were surpassed. We stayed in a gorgeous, spacious, beautifully furnished room. Count de Roquefueil was a gracious, caring and extremely entertaining hosts. His family has a most interesting history and we thoroughly enjoyed learning about this colorful family. He also provided excellent guidance on sights to see. The visit to the Normandy beaches and also the Bayeaux Tapestries are must-do's while in this beautiful area. We highly recommend the Chateau and also the Normandy/Brittany region to travelers to France!!!

“The Perfect French Chateau”

As soon as we walked in the front door, I told my husband "now this is what I think of when I think French Chateau." We loved this place and would stay again if we venture back to this area of France. It is conveniently located just 20 minutes or so from Mont St. Michel which should be a must see on any tour of France.

This was a beautiful old house that was well kept by the owners (who are descendants of the original owners going back several generations). We were immediately greeted by the owners who spoke French, Spanish and English making communication quite easy. They were very gracious and helpful. I sat on the back steps of the chateau in the afternoon sun and had a great conversation with the Monsieur.

Our room was located on the ground floor (Marquise), right off the dining room. It was very large and well furnished, with a nice view out the back of the property. Our room as well as all of the common rooms had family heirlooms, paintings and antiques everywhere. I think that it is fantastic that they share all of their history and family treasures with guests.

Breakfast was very good with French style fare such as croissants, bread, jam, fruit, etc. We were served on the huge dining room table that was all decked out with fresh cut flowers, china, linen, etc.

“Bouceel is a Sanctuary”

Chateau de Bouceel

Apr 1, 2008

We arrived at the Chateau in the late afternoon and were met by the Count. He made wonderful recommendations for dinner for us and was most entertaining with his family stories and stories of the area and history. On the second rainy afternoon, he served tea to all of the guests who were reading in the magnificent library. You can see Mont San Michele from the driveway of this gracious home. It is a magnificent base for exploring Normandy. I would return for a quiet refuge in beauty.

“Excellence still exists”

Stayed at the Chateau Bouceel for a long weekend in Jan 2008, and can only reflect the other countless extremely positive reviews. The Chateau itself is the real deal, beautiful grounds, original antiques and a great building. The owners are charm itself, without being overpowering at all. Very helpful with everything from restaurants to horse-riding to calvados buying.

It costs a bit more than the norm, but you get excellent value. I can't compliment enough, one of those stays that you bore people about for years, but for all the right reasons.

“A beautiful relaxing place”

Chateau de Bouceel

Jan 12, 2008

We stayed here for 2 nights between Xmas and New Year and it was a lovely break, the room was beautiful and full of what I can only assume were family pictures and mementoes, I have never seen a place like it. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Our host Monsieur le Marquis was most welcoming and charming, recommending places to eat and visit. I would add that despite the grand setting, there is no stuffiness about this chateau and we were made to feel very welcome. The breakfast was a delight for the tastebuds, and the eyes too. When our numbers come up we shall be going back every year!
