We stayed in Ericeira for 5 nights in August. When we arrived, we were a little surprised to see that our room did not contain a bed! Instead, we were expected to sleep on a pull out sofa bed. My boyfriend didn't actually fit on the bed and the two sections were of different heights. We ended up taking the whole thing apart and sleeping on the floor! We complained to the front desk but we were informed that this was standard in all the rooms available. We just didn't see why if we were paying for a room, we should have to sleep on a pull out mattress!

The hotel itself is clean and the bathroom was presentable. The swimming pool is freezing but the area surrounding it has lovely views over the sea.

The location isn't great- its ok going to the beach but a steep trek back up the hill on the way back! It is also a good 45 minute walk into the centre of Ericeira although the front desk will call a taxi which are inexpensive.

Overall, I wouldn't stay at the Beachtour again as i believe that a bed is essential to a good quality hotel!

On a good note-
The restaurant attached to the hotel is delicious with a range of fresh shellfish.

We were very impressed by the guy who worked in the bar by himself at what seemed to be all hours of the day- he makes a very good breakfast and thought he deserved a mention!

Location: Quite easy to find, only a 40 minute drive from Lisbon airport. It is close to the promenade, Ericeira village and some lovely beaches.

Hotel: The staff were very friendly and the hotel was very clean. Checking in was easy and we were given remote controls for the tv and air conditioning. There was also a restaurant within the hotel - well worth a visit for some wonderful fish and skewered meat. The meals are based on two sharing, so if you want a dish to yourself ask for a half portion. There are 2 pools at the hotel, although we didn't go in as the water was so cold!

Room: The room was a good size, although the bed was a squeaky sofa bed. The kitchenette was well equipped with a fridge, microwave, electric hob, toaster, pots, pans, cutlery, etc. The room was cleaned everyday with fresh towels.

The area: You can walk right along the coast along a paved promenade. There are some great beaches, popular with surfers. The beaches are very clean, and most have a cafe nearby. There is a great little coffee shop on the front - try one of their cakes. Aussie's pizza place does some great thin pizzas and milkshakes of any ice cream flavour. The local market is worth a visit for some fresh meat, fish and vegetables. Also, check out Parque de Santa Marta near the town centre. There are tennis courts, restaurants and free wifi.
