The hotel does have a nice view. However, on arrival our toilet was not clean, the floor was gritty, tatty furniture and pokey bathrooms with basic shower. We tried to leave immediately but told we would be charged minimum 3 nights. Sorry, not rich enough to do this! We were upgraded to a bigger room with nice view, but that night visited by cockroaches. Before dinner, bathroom door jammed and told by reception it would be 45 mins before anyone came! We tried to leave the next day, even offering to pay for the third night even though we wouldnt be there, then told we had to pay for four nights to leave early! They climbed down, but we still had to pay for a night we didn't use. As for the swimming area, it has water snakes and is murky, only up to adult lower thigh in depth. You have to go to next bay for a real beach but you will be charged $80 minimum from the local water taxi drivers who run things like a cartel. Or use the local bus service. It is a shame that Marigot Bay taxi drivers do not appear to want to support the economy of the local village Anse La Raye Friday night Fish Fry by charging reasonable fares to tourists. $100 round trip for a 15 minute drive is a joke and disincentive.

Whilst it is true to say the bay can get a little murky after a heavy rainfall it clears within hours . Sea snakes ? no, eals ! very beautiful and rare ,enjoy them . water thigh high? maybe to someone 17feet tall, superyachts and yachts visit the bay continually , in fact at the end of the sandspit the water goes from 0-35 feet deep in as many feet out . The furniture in all rooms are only 2 years old ! Stuck door was actually where the clients unintentionally locked themselves out. Cockroaches are actually indiginous to st lucia and occasionally come in the houses to forage ,not to be confused with signs of filth as implied, beware also crickets ,tree frogs, humming birds ,parrots ,seahorses etc , etc. LOL ! All quite natural to St Lucia .
Finally ,$100 e.c. for a round trip to Anse Le Ray including waiting time ,That's 18 GB pounds Thats cheap , especially if you are from England , anyway the taxis are not owned by us and we are unable to control prices.

“From Newcastle with Love”

Marigot Beach Club Hotel & Dive Resort

What a great place to stay! By far better than the rather clinical "Discovery"Hotel across the bay! Our first impression of the island was not great, as the journey to the bay is at best a rollercoaster ride and we arrived feeling rather car sick! This soon disappeared with the short boat ride across to the hotel. We were met by David ( a wonderful character and drinking partner!) and shown to our deluxe beachfront room. Deluxe was a bit of a strong word, but it had a four poster bed (very comfortable) and a large terrace. The room was immaculate and I must say its the first hotel Ive stayed in that change the sheets almost every other day!! Well done. The room had a lovely colonnial feel to it. We soon settled into the St Lucian way of life and got to know David and his staff well. Claude is an amazing barman, Angus great restaurant manager and Tracey (reception) booked Alex (water taxi) efficiently., the girls serving breakfast were fanatastic! Nothing was too much trouble at Marigot. I would definitely go back to this rather whacky hotel, as it really has a special quality to it. It sits in a beautiful bay where you can watch amazing boats sail in and out but what makes it so special - David and his staff! A must on the "to do list" is Sofriere by boat then the volcano, lunch at Ladera then relax on the beach at Jalouise Plantation. Magical

By far the WORST accomodations in St. Lucia!

Next to no swimming, unless you enjoy waste deep murky water, which also means you can certainly forget snorkling!
We were only there for about 30 min(if that), when we realized that they didn't offer something they told us they did(a misunderstanding I'm sure), So we went to the front desk to explain the situation, they wanted to charge us over $100, even though we hadn't touched the room. we agreed on $50, mainly because we just wanted to get the heck out of there.

It was just a horrible experience i wouldn't recommend to anyone!!!

Simply preposterous !! You only have to read our raving reviews and see this is absoloutley not true ! Even James Mitchenor wrote in his books such high praises about the beauty of Marigot bay, see the pictures on our website and see the beauty of the bay , 1/2 an hour they were here?but take time to shower and have a swim and blast my hotel to bits , really don't think so ! Should have gone to Sandels in the first place ! Champagne taste beer pockets LOL ! This couple should have been charged 5 day's of their booking but were not they were expecting something different like Sandals , which we are not . they were only charged the little they were because they messed the room up and they should accept that,it is far from unreasonable.

“Beautiful location and friendly staff”

Marigot Beach Club Hotel & Dive Resort

This was our first visit to St Lucia, and we could not have picked a more beautiful location. It was not in the touristy area of Rodney Bay, but not so isolated to the point of having no dining or hotel options.

The MBC more than served our needs, and we were happy with our choice of hotels. The room was clean and adequately equipped with a mini kitchen. The most impressive aspect was the large patio with an absolutely beautiful view of the Bay. The entire staff was very friendly, and we especially enjoyed talking with Angus who loved our Southern accents. A full breakfast at Doolittles in the morning was filling and included in the hotel price.

The only thing I would change is the small beach in front of the MBC. It is a public beach, and you have vendors and children trying to sell everything including coconuts. A private beach for the guests of MBC and the Oasis would have been perfect, but no one harassed us and I understand that the Islanders need to make a living. The beach was fantastic for watching the beautiful sunset in the evening.

We want to thank all of the friendly staff for making our first visit very memorable, and we would not hesitate to recommend or return to the MBC again.

Thanks,

Ingo & Arleen

“Stunning Marigot Bay Honeymoon!”

Marigot Beach Club Hotel & Dive Resort

Hi everyone. My wife and I got married on 23rd June 2007 in the UK and we set off a day or two later on our honeymoon to St Lucia. We'd booked to stay at the Marigot Beach Club via Virgin Holidays but I'd also contacted Bernie who runs the resort office to organise things and make enquiries etc. He was very helpful and responds to emails very quickly.

We were due to stay at Marigot for 2 weeks with a week's independant stay elsewhere on the island in the middle. That meant we stayed for 6 nights, then went to stay at La Haut Plantation in Souffriere for 7 nights, and then returned to Marigot for our last 6 nights. What a trip. Virgin were fine about the gap in the middle too which was great.

So, Marigot Bay. What can I say. It was fab. The airport in St Lucia is a bit hard work but we eventually made it to the bay. The views as you drive over the hill and first see Marigot are stunning. When we got to the little ferry pontoon we kind of looked around not knowing what was going on but within seconds the little Marigot Ferry was on it's way across the bay to greet us. It runs all day back and forth and a ferry pass was included in our rate. The lads who run the boat service are great and happily helped us with our bags. Quite romantic really, getting the ferry over to your private resort!

That turned out to be one of the best bits about our stay. The fact it was private. We virtually had the place to ourselves. David (who you'll no doubt have read about) was in London for our first week so Big AL was left in charge and he did a great job.

As it was our honeymoon Bernie upgraded us to one of the deluxe villas which we were really happy about. The room was great and the views beautiful. Marigot is not so much a beach resort as it is mainly a small marina but there was still ample opportunity to snorkel and swim.

Doolittles restaurant was very nice. Good value and good food. A couple of nights we ate elsewhere. The Rainforest hideaway was shut when we were there and JJ's was a real disappointment. Their crab night was awful and we sent three main courses back! Chateau Mygo is more a snack place but the do do buy one get one free on all drinks ALL DAY!!! The piton beers go down a treat especially at 2 for 1!

In our last week we met Maurice who was a lovely irish guy. He's the food & beverage director at Discovery. We ate there on our last night and I can honestly say I have never had better. the food was amazing but be warned, the wine list is not cheap!!! I spent £100 per head on that last meal (with wine) but it was well worth it.

Finally David. What can I say, he's quite a character! Having said that so am I and he was really good fun. He made us feel very welcome and genuinely appreciated the fact that we'd chosen to stay at Marigot. He has a friend who is the local helicopter pilot, Alex. We had helicopter transfers booked so Alex got us both in the front seats and gave us a personalised flight back over the resort and the piton mountains. Unbelievable. Thanks Alex!

The other person who cannot go without a mention is Wilson. The worlds best bar man. What a star. He has a little shopping trolley which he wheels out every night to pack up the stock. Such a lovely guy. He became a real friend.

We had such an amazing time. We hired a car via Bernice and expored the island. Went to Pigeon Island, smugglers cove and Rodney bay. All easily explored from Marigot as the location is great. We felt extremely safe and well looked after. David even offers guests a 50% discount if they return and I am totally intending on taking him up on that offer.

I can also recommend the friday fish fry at anse la raye. Get Alex the water taxi guy to take you. He's another top man. His reputation is all he has but he's honest and hard working.

It was the best honeymoon ever and I loved this place. Don't let anything put you off or you'll be missing out on one of the most special locations on the planet. Feel free to drop me an email at beninmarlow@yahoo.co.uk. Enjoy! I'll try to put up some photos when i get chance.
