We spent 4 nights here last week and generally really enjoyed ourselves.
We were a little disappointed when we arrived and found that the infinity pool and several of the eating establishments were closed due to the hotel preparing for a very large (and expensive) wedding that was taking place on our last night there.
The rooms are typical Marriott with the super cozy beds with luxurious linens. Ours was the furthest from the lobby- probably close to a 1/4 mile walk. When getting back to the hotel after a day of sightseeing and you pass through security with your key in your pocket, it demagnetizes and it's a very long walk back to the front desk to get it replaced, especially when you;re tired from exploring Roman ruins or Crusader castles!. This happened to us twice!
The pools that were open were wonderful. There is a slide that connects the upper pool to the middle pool, which our daughter loved. The pools have life guards, which was impressive. We actually saw one pull a toddler out when he was in over his head and his mother, who was dressed at the side of the pool, watched helplessly.
The dead sea is quite aways down a series of stairs, but is worth the effort . The beach is quite rocky, so water shoes are a must. They are available free of charge at the towel stand. There is a huge tub of Dead Sea mud available to slather over your, or your friend's , body. Let it dry and rinse off in the sea. It's wonderful.
We ate breakfast and dinners at the resort and found the food to be good for the most part. The breakfast had a huge selection. Our only disappointment is the lack of Middle Eastern Food. Perhaps the restaurant that was closed served it.
The last night of our stay was awful. The wedding, which was practically right outside our window, went on until 4:30 in the morning. THe band was playing and lights were flashing. When we complained we were told that the wedding party had rented 150 rooms and spent a lot of money at the hotel to do this. That's fine, but give them room overlooking the party! The front desk gave us 1/2 off our room rate that night to compensate.
I would definitely stay here again. It was an excellent base to discover the north west region of Jordon.
