Below is a step-by-step description of what to expect when arriving at the airport in Puerto Vallarta (PVR).  1.  Your plane lands.  You will either deplane on a ramp directly into the terminal.  Or more often planes land on the tarmac, you deplane and are directed to an open air bus which drives you to the terminal. 2.  When you enter, directly in front of you are multiple lines for immigration where your passport and tourist card will be checked by an official. 3.  After immigration, turn to the right and you will be in the baggage claim area. Get suitcase(s) from the carousel.  Porters are available at this point if you have more luggage than you can manage on your own. 4.  Turn around from the baggage carousel and go to where you see what looks like a stop light.  This is customs. They will ask you to press a button.  If the light turns green you will be waved thru.  If red they may ask to check your suitcase. 5.  Step past customs and you are in a room with white walls that appear almost a temporary construction (be forewarned this is where the time share folks are).  Turn to your left and quickly pass through this crowd to exit into the regular airport lobby . 6.  Turn to your right and you will see two booths clearly marked "TAXI" near the exit door. Go and buy a ticket from the lady, tell her your hotel name.  They accept both USD or peso.  She will point you out the door to the taxi line up.  You will be shown to a cab/driver. Give the ticket to your driver and tell him your hotel.  Now you're on your way!
