The three main options for getting to Guadalajara include by plane, bus, or car.
Most visitors to Guadalajara traveling by air will choose to land at the Don Miguel Hidalgo International Airport , which is located twelve miles southeast of the city center. This airport welcomes daily flights from domestic and international locations. The airlines flying there include Aero Mexico , Alaska Airlines , American Airlines , Delta , Mexicana, and more. After arriving, there is a minibus service that runs loops between the city and the airport. Tickets can be purchased outside of the Arrivals Terminal. There are also many rental car agencies around the airport area. Many tourists flying to Guadalajara choose to rent a car as it allows much flexibility and freedom. Long distance bus trips into Guadalajara are offered by a few companies including ETN. These busses will arrive at the Central Camionera station, which is around 20 to 30 minutes from Guadalajara ’s city center. To get from there into el centro you have a few options depending on how many bags you have. You can take a taxi, a local bus or a coach called the cardinal.
