Leeds is a very safe city. It is, however, a city with a large population and approaching a 24 hour lifestyle. That means anyone traveling through should take the usual common sense safeguards.

As a resident of 47 years and a frequent visitor to the city centre i've never once felt threatened by any situation. I've waited for buses and taxis after midnight and whilst you have your usual contingent of noisy drunks and boistrous stag and hen parties it rarely gets beyond the occasional police car cruising by to quieten things down.

Leeds is up and coming. There has been a huge investment in all aspects of the city and today it resembles any modern European centre. From high brow cultural excellence to small homely pubs you can find everything for every taste. All the global brand hotels are here so you should not have any qualms about booking your stay. Enjoy. (But pack weather proof clothing - we are in the north of the UK!!)
