The influential architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh designed the Glasgow School of Art in 1896. Today, over one hundred years later, the Glasgow School of Art remains a hard working art school attracting talented students from all over the world. The Mackintosh Building continues to be admired and respected and has taken its place as one of the most influential and significant structures of the twentieth century.
As it is still a working art school, the Mackintosh Building can only be visited by guided tour. Tour tickets may be reserved by calling, emailing or purchased from the Mackintosh Shop in the entrance hall of the Glasgow School of Art. The shop stocks a wide selection of gifts, books, prints and postcards.
A regular programme of free exhibitions are also held in the School's four public galleries. Details of these from the School's website.
