There is something magical about Cesky Krumlov - "magical" is a word often used by visitors. It certainly is the case that the town has links with the history of alchemy. You will find alchemical symbols on some of the houses and integrated into the frescos of the castle. Part of the magic is the location, the way the old town sits on two meanders of the River Vltava and the way the castle rises out of the cliff above it.
