Hassan II, a recent King of Morocco, was a great golf lover and an aficionado of the sport, and, as such, he helped make it particularly popular.  Golf is now a leisure activity of choice in Rabat, as the city never really experiences any winter weather.

The Dar Essalam Royal Golf Club is a good place to begin your tour of the capital’s links.  Located just outside city limits, cloaked in oak and eucalyptus, these fairways hug hills and embrace challenge.  Its terrain is noted for being very varied and requiring intense focus.

The El Jadida Golf is made of verdant woods, immaculate greens, roses, jasmine flowers, and Atlantic Ocean backdrops.  Boasting numerous practice areas, as well as an exceptional restaurant and bar, El Jadida is an excellent choice for those looking to work on their swings and puts between tours of souks and sights.

Outside of the golf courses, the other main areas of sport and leisure are the beaches, one of the most popular being the shores of Les Nations, a white-sand idyll bordered by forests that is perfect for surfers and swimmers.

There are also numerous other beaches in the capital that are worth checking out, including the city’s namesake Rabat Beach.
