There is no real “bad” season to travel to Taipei, but local experts do suggest better times to visit. For example, the time around the Chinese New Year isn’t the best time – many stores and restaurants will be closed, the roads will be jammed with families traveling for the holidays and as a result, accommodations prices could be almost double what you would otherwise pay.
In addition, July on the Chinese calendar (roughly beginning end of August) is considered Ghost Month, during which travel is discouraged, so this is considered a good time to travel to Taiwan since this is a low travel season, travel is cheaper and there are many festivals and interesting religious ceremonies to take in.
October and November are the most enjoyable months in Taiwan weather wise (with reduced humidity), so these are considered good months to travel to Taipei. Taiwan is a subtropical climate, so the summer months can be uncomfortably humid and travel might be uncomfortable.
If you’re trying to avoid rain, your best bet months are December and January, though it can rain any month of the year here.
Temperatures don’t change too much around Taipei. The highs in summer are generally in the upper 70s to upper 80s, and in the winter, mid 60s. But night temperatures aren’t that much different from the days. Lows in the summer are low 70s to low 80s, while in the winter, lows rarely dip below 50.
