Train Travel in Egypt
Traveling by trains in Egypt is an experience by itself.
1. Except for the Abela Train, no trains are ever on time! Keep 3 to
4hrs extra when planning travel.
2. Bookings are only possible either at
their counters physically or through an agent. It is not possible to book
through fax, phone or email. It is simply of no use to waste your time to get a reservation. If you need sleeper train reservation, best to do the
day you reach Cairo, on the way from Airport to Hotel.
3.It is
not worth spending money on Abela Sleeping Trains. They are comfortable, and the
food reasonably good, yet the toilets were stinking! Much worse that Indian
trains. Flying Egypt Air is cheaper and more efficient.
