The weather in Aswan can be described as hot and dry in the summers, and warm and dry throughout the rest of the year.  Although it is possible to travel to Aswan year round, certain months are more comfortable for outdoor activities than others.

            On average, the hottest months of the year are June, July and August, during which time the daily high temperatures will generally hover above a scorching 100-degrees.  The summer months are extremely hot, and being outdoors during the daytime is not pleasant.  Much of life takes place outdoors after the sun goes down in the evenings, during which time the temperatures will generally drop to the lower 80’s and upper 70’s.  People looking to do outdoor activities are not recommended to visit during these hot months.

            The coldest months of the year on average are December and January, during which time the daily high temperatures will reach the low to mid 70’s.  The nighttime temperatures during these months will generally drop to the lower 50’s.  On occasion, a few times a year, it will get cold enough during the night for frost to cover the city.

            It rarely ever rains in Aswan.  The city has a very arid climate, in which a pair of wet jeans will dry in less than an hour.  Leave the raincoat at home.
