January 1st Easter (from Good Friday) May 1st Labour Day May 21st Navy Day June 12th Corpus Christi June 26th Peter and Paul August 15th Assumption Sept 18 Independence Day Sept 19 Army Day Oct 9 Dia de la Raza (Columbus Day) Nov 1st All Saint's Day December 8th Immaculate Conception Dec 25th Christmas Certain holidays were moved to the closest Monday if they fell on a Saturday or Sunday, others retain a specific date. The ones which would obviously affect tourists would be May 1st, Christmas and the 18th/19th of September as these dates can interfere with travel plans within the country and most sightseeing. We do not shut public transport down completely on Christmas Day in Santiago (as London does) as many people use it to visit family, but there would be far fewer buses and the metro would work a Sunday timetable. On most of the other holidays many things would be open

The major holidays are, of course, Fiestas Patrias 18-19 September, Christamas and Easter. The holiday month February is pretty low key. Otherwise there are a number of one day holidays which sometimes are long weekends, 1 January, May 1-Labour Day, May 21- Glorias Navales, June variable-Corpus Cristi, July 29 St Peter and St Paul, August 15-Asuntion Day, October 12-Día de la Raza, November 1 - All Souls and December 8-Immaculate Conception.  the day of the dead also on november 1st
