A good book for your trip is the "Tahiti and french polynesia guide: written By Jan Prince (published by Open roads publishing).  The 4th edition is the best selling book about the destination. This book was published in 2005. The information found inside is still very valid, although it is missing the latest properties like the Thalasso, St Regis for Bora Bora and the closure of the restaurant Le bateau/ Linareva for Moorea.  The fifth edition is in the making and should come out by the end of 2007-early 2008.   Also, the Lonely Planet guide to Tahiti and the Moon Handbook are a wealth of information.
