It is important to travel into Delhi when the weather is tolerable. Truth be told, half of the year, Delhi can have pretty inhabitable weather. Beginning in April, the temperatures become insufferably hot and scorching. Come May or June, temperatures can reach more than 113 degrees F. In July, it becomes a bit cooler but much more humid and thus continuously sticky and uncomfortable. There are also fiery dust storms, called Loo, that blow in from Rajasthan and swirl layers of dust all over the city, searing the face and eyes of passerbys. Then in August and September, monsoon season begins. During this time, there is a plague of all day rain which makes sightseeing very painful. Still the heat does not really cool down significantly until October.
Thus, this leaves 5 months, from November to March for visiting without being hindered by high temperatures or rain or dust. During this time, the weather remains much cooler, between 70 to 86 degrees C. However, at the same time, there is consistent sunshine throughout the day. Thus, it is recommended that travelers plan to travel through Delhi around this time. In addition, Holi, one of the most exuberant Hindu festivals, is practiced during this time and is a special, colorful and awe-inspiring event to see and observe.
