If you want to get active while visiting JB, consider some of the many parks and forests that are prime for hiking, walking and other outdoor activities.

At Endau-Rompin National Park, you can hike, take nature walks, and kayak through the natural forests here. This park is roughly one and a half times larger than the whole of the country of Singapore. It is also home to a variety of wildlife and plants native only to this area, as well as some endangered species like the Sumatran rhinoceros, though it would be unlikely you’d see one as generally these animals stay in areas off limits to park visitors.

The Endau-Rompin National Park is open year-round, except for the months of December, January and February, or monsoon season.

Head to Orchid Valley to see the largest Orchid plantation in the world. It’s located in Gunung Pulai, which is about 17 miles northwest of Johor Bahru. The 212-acre orchid plantation features about 80 different varieties of the flowers, and a tourist center and research laboratory. If you tire of the orchids, you can also enjoy waterfalls and manmade lakes to enjoy here.
