There is something for every shopper in Cape Town. You can browse through upscale malls or search through unique shops for African treasures.
One fancy-ish mall is located on the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Check out Sun Goddess for unique African clothing or the African Trading Post for sculptures, ceramics, and furniture. From the waterfront, move on to Cavendish Square in Claremont or Canal Walk at Century City.  Generally mall shopping hours are from 9:00 to 20:00 seven days a week (some close at 17:00 on Saturdays and Sundays).  Away from the malls is where you’ll make the best finds. Hundreds of shops and street stalls offer African crafts. Keep in mind that few are produced locally, except for the majority of the beadwork you’ll see. One good spot to peruse is De Waterkant, which features cobbled streets and a variety of coffee shops and restaurants. Start in the Quarter, and move along Jarvis and Waterkant Streets to see the best galleries, furniture makers, and fabric shops. And in the City Center, Greenmarket Square offers countless crafts, gifts, souvenirs, and clothing. Stop in at the Pan African Market for superb crafts, and Streetwires for wire and bead designs. For antiques, keep going until you reach Church Street, where there are plenty of street vendors and antique shops.
